Shabby Chic Recipes
For "Talk to me Tuesdays" at TipJunkie were talking about homemade Christmas gifts we've made or received. I will be making these cute shabby chic recipe books this year for teachers and my husband's female coworkers. These are fun and simple!!
For my first post on my new blog, I want to share a recent craft that I did for the young women at my church. They were having a Personal Progress Fair and I was asked to create 2 crafts to teach them. This shabby chic recipe book is one of them. I was given a budget, so I had to get creative to keep the costs down, but I think it turned out darling. Thanks to my friend Renee for suggesting to use a photo album. Fab idea! They were $1 each at Dollar Tree. So if your a crafter ,you probably already have paper, ribbon and staples to finish it up. It's a super cute $1 recipe book. I'll definitely be making more for gifts. Oh the possibilities! Teacher gifts, co-workers, neighbors. Make it your own by changing up the title and adding your own spark. Visit tomorrow to see the other craft we did.
This is how I made it:
*print off or stamp 4 food categories using a small size font
*punch out categories using 1 1/4 circle punch. punch 4 other circles of matching card stock using 1 3/4 punch
*cut scrapbook paper to fit album cover(I'm not a measurer, I just eyeball it,mark and cut)
*matte the title"Recipes" or whatever you want your title to be on scrapbook paper
*cut 6 pieces of coordinating ribbon or ric-rac. staple 2 pieces onto cover sheet
*insert cover
*divide album into categories using your circles and staple them on the edge of the album pages
*staple on 1 piece of ribbon beside each category
*insert your 4x6 recipe cards

Thanks! We should make some together.
This is amazing! However, to be included in Tip Junkie's Talk To Me Tuesday, you'll need to add a link back to the Tip Junkie's post. Please do so you can be included. It's a fabulous recipe book.
What a great idea!
I love this! Where did you buy the plastic album? I've been looking for something to make one of these and I don't have any luck. THANKS for sharing!
Hi Sarah. Thanks for your comment. It's so sweet! My plastic album came from the Dollar Tree store. It holds 36 pictures or in this case recipe cards. Thanks again.
Oh I love this creative idea!! I have found a lot of new recipes online lately & wanted a way to organize and share them. This looks like a great idea for my daughter & daughter-in-law! Thanks for sharing this!
I may be using this idea for my MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. I am the creative activities leader, and we are hoping to do something with fun kid snacks/recipes in the Spring. Awesome idea!
That is a fantastic gift idea! I do have a question, what is a Personal Progress Fair? Can you e-mail me the information? wannabeseductress at yahoo dot com.
Thanks!!
Love this idea! So cute. I went out and bought a stack of the photo albums to make for gifts. I plan on including some of our families favorite recipes and then including blank cards for the recipient to add theirs in also. (This will also be great for newly weds...passing along family recipes) Oh, and I've just started a crafty blog too...come check me out!
